Can i freeze shelf life boilies

Was using stickys krill readymade they are brilliant. Am using Dynamite's The Source atm and have had one or two on Crafty's King Prawn but as I have never used the fresh versions of either it is not possible to compare the shelfie with the fresh version.

Cheers Ken. In reply to Post 24 Yes DT still do the shelflifes. In reply to Post 13 Ken do DT baits still do shelfies and if so are you including those in the two you mention? I used a few kilo of DT shelfies yrs ago and remember them to be really good compared to others and an equal to their freezer baits. I have a preference for freezer baits, but as Ken T pointed out some shelf lifes are more attractive instantly than the freezer version.

If the shelf life version is as good, I tend to use the shelf life on the hair rather than the frozen bait. One thing though is that some freezer baits improve with 'days out of the freezer', when they smell slightly sickly sweet.

First day they may be ok, and catch, but day 3 or 4 the carp are really wanting and munching them. In reply to Post 21 No it was well past usable.

Just binned what was in there. Had the bait turned or did you throw it away because it had simply defrosted DNA gave my boy around 2kg of each of their shelflife baits at the Brentwood show this year.

In reply to Post 18 This is encouraging. Here in the US we, obviously, cannot get freezer bait. Recently DNA has come across the pond, and I look forward to seeing which one is least attractive to our catfish I moved over to their shelflife baits and have been impressed with them and not noticed any difference in catch results etc.

Miles away from shelf life bait of old. In reply to Post 11 Over the last year I've been told so many different things about SL vs freezer and I agree I personally don't think there is much difference between them but if I was to say that to me mate he will go ballistic and saying no Freezer bait is the best but I think that's just cos he's old school.

In reply to Post 13 Why please. I bought 25k for a very reasonable price and had a top week using it, smell of the bait was is! I still have 10k or so sealed in the garage and I will happily use this at the first opportunity. Also use Dynamite shelfies for my barbel fishing. So I wouldn't stress too much about it, they all catch.

In reply to Post 8 Freezer baits for me, fresh bait with good ingredients and kept cool on the bank. Shelf life sales are slightly higher than fresh these days. In reply to Post 7 Agreee, I have used Nash Scopex Squid a few years, there shelf lifes, and cant fault them, thought I would always use frozen. Breadcrumb Home Articles Everything you need to know about boilie care.

CARPology Bait Re-sealable packaging will help maintain the freshness of shelflife baits. Without preservatives these boilies need to be frozen to maintain the condition of the active ingredients. Can't see the point myself. Not a good idea,as you will introduce a lot of moisture by freezing.

You will then find that some brands will in fact start to go off:. Ok but is there any logic behind you wanting to? I do put mine in the freezer, as mentioned it drys them out, moisture leaves food and in the case of pop ups a very small amount leaves them, when being frozen although I do add flavours and when they defrost they soak up the flavours.
